Introducing Elif, our Global Accounts Manager

Elif .jpg

We're happy to introduce Elif Özgecan Hız, our Global Account Manager. Elif's role is i.a. understanding customer needs, identifying, characterising and developing new business opportunities and personalised marketing solutions aligned with the inbound marketing strategy. Elif's role in Wings4U has evolved over time, about which you can read in the interview below.

Why this role, and why Wings4U?

My path crossed with Wings4U back in August 2016, when I had had enough of the commuting chaos in Istanbul. I was looking for an alternative opportunity that would allow me to have more quality time for myself. This idea led me to discover freelancing, through a few projects I did with international companies. Around the time I knew I liked the idea of remote work, I came across a job post by Wings4U. I initially started to work as a content creator/inbound marketer for a project. My role evolved over time, and I was included in many new and exciting projects along the way, which showed me the plethora of opportunities I can come across as I work with Wings4U. Finally, I took over my current role as the Global Accounts Manager two months ago, and I’m thrilled! It’s a whole new journey and excitement!

Do you have any experiences worth raving about?

I travel a lot and usually have memorable experiences from my trips. But one highlight would be my ziplining experience in the forests of Phuket. I had wanted to try ziplining for a long time, and the rainforest couldn’t have been a better setup! Fun fact is, I was having so much fun ziplining that I didn’t realise that my legs had been attacked by mosquitos in the meantime! I probably had around 100 bites, and they were very, very scary!

Lesson learnt: when you’re ziplining in the tropics, make sure to apply mosquito repellant spray multiple times! :)

What makes you tick? What are you passionate about?

There are three things in life that I’m super passionate about: traveling, writing and photography. I love that I can learn and experience so much through traveling. As for writing and photography, I see them as my way of self-expression and a way to inspire people around me. I really enjoy creating content and projects through writing and photography that communicate my feelings and ideas.

What’s your favourite quote?

Do more of what you love.

And I religiously try to follow this.

What’s your favourite music / bands?

I definitely don’t have one favourite, and my taste in music is very eclectic. Among many of those that I love, here are some that I find myself listening to repeatedly: Nouvelle Vague, Pink Martini, Hindi Zahra, Beirut, The Beatles, Cranberries. The list is very long, I have to stop myself. Also a favourite song: Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”. This is a tough question! Why don’t you follow me on Spotify? 😃

Which book and movie would you recommend to everyone?

Tough question! I watch so many movies and from all kinds of genres. I guess I particularly love inspirational and feel-good movies. One movie I would definitely recommend is Chef — it’s a great combination of food, fun, inspiration, social media, travel and good music. Everything that makes me happy!

As for the book, I recommend The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and Linchpin by Seth Godin. I love these two, and I can read them again and again in the future! Let me know what you think if you read them!

If you could go to dinner with anyone (alive or not), who would it be and why?

Can I make the dinner a crowded one? I’d like to have a huge dinner party with all my friends and family. The season would be summer, we would be in a green garden (preferably by a lake), and there would be colourful balloons everywhere. And the dinner is followed by dancing! When I imagine, I am very specific about what I want, haha. 😃
